On Thanksgiving Day, Love Conquers All decided to change the narrative. It were many families and other organizations along with Love Conquers All out feeding the homeless. Thinking back to last Thanksgiving we knew we needed to do something different. Instead of feeding the homeless. We decided to pass out 75 blankets, 75 hats, 75 sets of gloves, 75 scarfs and 75 reusable tote bags. In these temperatures you don’t have to be out very long, before looking at frostbite issues. It is usually extremely cold on Thanksgiving Day. It is literally physically, mentally and painful. People should not have to be put through this, but some homeless are reluctant to go to shelters, some have been cast away by society, no where else to go or can not afford a lease. They well so excited and grateful to be receiving something warm and something different instead of food. It were many homeless throughout the NOMA, K street and Union Station area where we adopted, but Unfortunately we only had 75 bags which clearly was not enough or went very far. Love Conquers All has decided next Thanksgiving we will passed out 150 to 200 warm winter items. Blankets and winter items are always helpful especially when living outdoors.
