Love Conquers All Pass out Backpacks to the Homeless

On May 30th as we continue to wade through another month. Love Conquers All come together to pass out turkey sandwiches, bananas, mask, bottle water and reusable backpacks. Love Conquers All is dedicated to the health and well-being of others and the homeless in our community. As people across the globe continue to be impacted by COVID-19. LCA will strive to continue to feed our community and keep them safe with face mask.

In these unprecedented times. Love Conquers All come together to achieve one shared goal: to beat COVID-19. Just as you everyone is doing their part to fight the coronavirus. Love Conquers All are committed in keeping the homeless safe. LCA passed out 40 bags of a pack of hand sanitizer wipes, 4 pop hand soaps and two mask. Be homeless during COVID-19 it can be hard to feel optimistic, but there are reasons to stay positive.

On May 4th, Love Conquers All pass out 50 Turkey & Cheese Sandwiches and 50 bottle waters to the Homeless throughout the NE area of Union Station, K- Street Tunnel and NoMa. Being Homelessness is already difficult just a smile while serving people can go along way. A simple act of Kindness reminds them- they are human. It gives hope, encouragement and make their day.

Love Conquers All-Health & Wellness Initiative

Love Conquers All served the homeless of the Washington DC area in the design district of K Street Tunnel, NoMa and Union Station 45 Salad Bowls along with 45 Ice Cold Water on a Hot Summer Day.

Being homeless is associated with shorter life expectancy homeless is a crucial issue that seems to go unnoticed. Health and Wellness are a popular topic in this day and time, especially when it comes to our Homeless.

People in Crisis need healthy tasty meals, including protein, fresh fruit, vegetables and salads. Love Conquers All like to provide Healthy eating for the less fortunate.

Love Conquers All Feeds the Homeless on Thanksgiving Day

On Thanksgiving Day, Love Conquers All served dinner to the homeless of the Washington DC area on the side of Union Station. Their initial goal was to feed 50, but they received enough food contributions to feed 125 homeless.

Helping All, Loving All, Serving All: Love Conquers All is a private, not for profit organization and is tax exempt under Section 501 © (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Love Conquers All helps break the cycle of adversity and provide enough opportunity to change lives and communities.

Love Conquers All also received a hand from the volunteers of Purse With a Purpose out of Baltimore, MD. Executive Director and Founder of Love Conquers All, Lanice Dogan Hanna said she was “surprised to see so many homeless families on Thanksgiving Day”. “Many times we are out feeding our homeless veterans and individuals who have fallen on hard times, but the families truly needed us today”. Men, women, young, old, mothers, fathers and kids -- some homeless, some living in shelters and others just down on their luck were among those served.

To accomplish to they partnered with The Ritz-Carlton Washington DC and The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City’s Culinary Team (Craig, Sean, and Erik). The culinary team prepared turkey, stuffing, rice, green beans, cranberry sauce, yams, cakes & pies for this occasion. "We are so very fortunate in so many ways to have an organization like this that thinks about the least of these in our community, those really struggling just for the day to day basics and not just today but every day. It's an honor to join them,” Sean (RCDC) said.

Walker-Jones Education Campus received a donation surprise from a non-profit executive director alumnus where Love Conquers All

Walker-Jones Education Campus located in Washington D.C. received a surprising visit from a former alumnus and her team at Love Conquers All. Executive Director, Lanice Dogan Hanna and her team presented backpacks filled with school supplies that will benefit more than 45 students. She also gave Vice Principal, Theresa Edelen supplies for the teachers to use as needed.  

To both their surprise Vice Principal, Theresa Edelen worked at the school and had her 5 children, “The Edelen Boys” attending Walker-Jones during the time Hanna was a student. After looking at some pictures from the past, Hanna remembered her instantly. Love Conquers All helps break the cycle of adversity and provide enough opportunity to change lives and communities. They help individuals, children, families and communities facing great challenges to realize their potential. Walker-Jones Education Campus is a prekindergarten through 8th grade community-based school whose mission is to provide each student a diverse education in a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-discipline, motivation and excellence in learning through the four core principles of Knowledge, Service, Leadership, and Character.

Aligned in their goals Hanna looks forward to working with Walker-Jones on various initiatives. This coming holiday season, Love Conquers All will be participating in a gift giving campaign and at the kick-off of 2019, they will be launching etiquette workshops with the Walker-Jones. Executive Director, Hanna believes that while Washington D.C. has experienced much gentrification enhancements and the new school site along with the surrounding area looks beautiful, these students still are being raised in areas of poverty. She remembers what it was like being a student in D.C. in the 80’s during the war on drugs. Understanding D.C. has become a better place, there is still work left to be done. Love Conquers All goal is to be a proactive force of environmental change.

According to Executive Director, Hanna, “These backpacks and teacher supplies donated to Walker-Jones is just the beginning”. We encourage people to connect to those experiencing homelessness along with those living below poverty levels in the same way we connect with others in our lives: through engaging our interests, passions and talents. Getting involved in this personal way makes room for meaningful relationships, which we believe is the recipe for ending homelessness. The task is not to solve complex social systems or to fix someone’s situation. The task is to begin. To JUST SAY HELLO. To connect with someone through a shared interest. By doing this, the most profound change you will see is in yourself
